A biographic review related to the diagnosis and treatment of shoulder impingement syndrome was carried out un indexed journals from the last 10 years in the different databases of journals specialized int the area. Shoulder pain is the third cause of orthopaedic consultation and subacromial impingement syndrome is the most common pathology among glenohumeral joint conditions. Subacromial impingement syndrome is a common condition and has multiple etiologies. The correct diagnostic approach allows adequate individualization of the management of the pathology to improve therapeutic results. Systematized evaluation of the patient with shoulder pain is the hey to succesfull treatment. Based on this review, an algorithm was designed to facilitate the diagnosis and initiarion of treatment of shoulder impingement syndrome.
