Background: Hemorrhoids are dilatations of the superior and inferior hemorrhoidal arteriovenous vascular plexuses, they are usually located in an exposed and internal way in the anal canal and rectum. When these structures present dilatation and ingurgitation they cause a symptomatic picture that produces hemorrhoidal disease and affects the quality of life of those who suffer from it. Objective: To determine the validity and consistency of the new scale to evaluate the quality of life in patients with hemorrhoidal disease. Method: Comparative, process, scrutiny, homodemic, longitudinal, prolective and prospective study. Study time was from March to September 2023. The study was divided into two phases, the first was the development of the new scale and the second was to verify its validity and consistency. A total of 224 patients with a diagnosis of hemorrhoidal disease were selected. A single 21-item questionnaire was elaborated, and its validation was subject to judgment by a group of experts in Coloproctology, General Surgery and Clinimetry. Cronbach’s alpha was used to evaluate internal consistency, weighted kappa for external consistency and convergent validity with Spearman’s rho. Results: A total of 224 patients were included, of which 10 were part of a pilot group which yielded a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.994, weighted kappa of 0.001, and a Spearman’s rho value p ≤ 0.001. Conclusion: The new scale of quality of life in patients with hemorrhoidal disease has high internal consistency, high external consistency and satisfactorily proved its construct validity.
