Abstract

The population of cancer patients represents an area of opportunity for healthcare professionals in terms of health promotion, education, and health literacy. A literature review was conducted on mental health literacy initiatives, their application in cancer care, the theoretical models used in managing the process, and finally, the interventions implemented to promote the mental well-being of caregivers of cancer patients, including hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients. The study concludes that it is essential to recognize mental health literacy as a cornerstone of comprehensive care, as it empowers caregivers of cancer patients and hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients to reduce the psychological impact inherent in caregiving.
